What is BMI ?

What is BMI?... and how does that relate to the lap band weight loss surgery?

Did you know a BMI of 40 or Greater qualifies you for Lap Band Weight Loss Surgery?

Most insurance companies will pay for the surgery if it is 40 or greater!

If your lucky and have at least one obesity-health related risk and yours is between 35-40 then you could also qualify. CRAZY isn’t it, to be lucky to be over weight and sick! But if money is an option and you need your insurance to pay for it, then it is good to feel lucky!

So what is it any way....it is an acronym given to Body Mass Index, a number which is calculated from your weight and height that roughly correlates to the percentage of your total weight that comes from fat, as opposed to muscle, bone or organ.

The higher your BMI, the higher the percentage of fat that you have in your body. 20 and under, you might be underweight; between 20 and 25 you are considered healthy weight for your height; and 25 and over is considered overweight, and if you are over 35 then you are considered obese.

Basically, the higher the number the greater the risk a person has to develop additional health problems.
